LOT 1197
A mid-19th century Swiss rosewood portico clock, the eight day movement with pinwheel escapement striking hours and half hours on a bell via an outside countwheel with adjustable beat to the pendulum crutch, the backplate signed 'Gounouilhou et Francois a Geneve' and numbered 'No 16981', the nine-rod compensated pendulum with circular bob, the silvered dial similarly signed and with Roman hours and subsidiary seconds within a cast foliate surround, the portico case with boxwood line inlaid decoration and four turned columns with gilt metal mounts, on a plinth base, height 52cm.
