LOT 3360
WATERCOLOURS. A scrapbook containing approximately 95 original watercolour and pencil drawings, circa 1825-1832, many of them mounted onto leaves and of varying sizes, mainly depicting rural scenes in Northern England, often accompanied by poems in a calligraphic, manuscript hand. A number of the pencil drawings are initialed 'W.G.H.' while the floral watercolours appear to be by another artist, some of the loose drawings to the rear have the family name 'Pettitt' to the verso. The manuscript pen-work is all in one hand, a number of the poems are by the Quaker poet Bernard Barton (several loose leaves).
