LOT 1148
A George III oak longcase clock with thirty hour movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the 11-inch square brass dial with silvered centre and chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'Thos West Reading', the hood with arched surmount, glazed door and turned columns, the rectangular trunk door on a plain base and plinth, height 208cm, with pendulum and weight. Note: Thomas West is recorded in 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' by Brian Loomes as working in Reading between 1762 and 1780.
