A George III Scottish mahogany longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 13-inch painted breakarch dial with subsidiary seconds and date dials, inscribed 'Geo.Blackie Musselburgh', beneath a scene of a farrier at work to the arch, the hood with swan neck pediment, glazed door and fluted columns, the trunk with arched door and fluted corner columns, on a plain base, height 206.5cm, with pendulum and two weights (some faults). Note: George Blackie is recorded in 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' by Brian Loomes as working in Musselburgh, Scotland, between 1796 and 1844.
