An unusual Ridgway & Abington Ninevah jug, circa 1851, the black ground body relief moulded with two Assyrian winged lamassu creatures and an entwined snake handle, picked out in pale orange, between geometric and foliate designs in white and red, the rim with cuneiform text, raised moulded diamond registration lozenge to base and impressed 'ALBA' , height 25cm (minor faults). Note: it is unusual to see this particular form of jug with enamelled colours.
