LOT 1138
A late 19th century bronze, slate and marble mantel timepiece, the eight day movement with platform escapement, the bronze figural group surmount depicting a classical Bacchanalian maiden reclining on a panther drawn chariot, holding a thyrsus (giant fennel staff), feeding grapes to two fauns, the chariot wheels forming the dial and case back, all raised on a slate and variegated marble break bowfront base with fluted decoration and cast paw feet, height 48cm, length 74cm (minor faults).
