A printed postcard titled 'Landing Stores at St. Kilda' postmarked Aug 28 1930 with message from 'Mike' [Lannigan] 'Dear Mum & Dad, This card is being [sent] by a chum of mine. I can't get ashore myself. This is the last mail to leave St. Kilda, Love from your Son Mike', together with a photographic postcard of a ship in icy waters, also sent by Mike, and a postcard-size photo of six sailors, one being identified verso as 'Mike Lannigan centre front'. Note: The following day, 29 August 1930, the 36 islanders from St Kilda were evacuated to the mainland at their own request.
