Josef Munsch - Ehrenhandel (Figures with Pistols preparing for a Duel in a Forest Clearing), oil on panel, signed and dated 1888, 39cm x 57cm, within a gilt composition frame. Note: this work was exhibited at the International Art Exhibition (Internationalen Kunstausstellung), Munich, 1888, cat no. 1726 (illustrated in the exhibition catalogue), and also at the Austrian Art Association exhibition (Oesterreichischer Kunst-Verein), Vienna, 1889, cat no. 17. Literature: illustrated on p.136 of 'Literatur Kompakt: Theodor Fontane' by Susanne Kleinpass (Tectum Wissenschaftsverlag, 2012) and 'Illustrirte Zeitung' 30th May 1888 vol.90 p.689.
