An early 20th century brass circular cased ship's bulkhead type timepiece, the brass four pillar eight day movement with platform escapement, the backplate stamped 'J.W. Benson London 8476', the 8-inch painted circular dial with pendulum regulation above black Roman hour numerals and subsidiary seconds and detailed 'J.W. Benson London 8476', the cylindrical brass case with bevelled glass bezel, case diameter 24.3cm, mounted on a turned wooden backplate.
