A late 19th century French gilt metal mounted banded onyx mantel timepiece, the eight day movement with platform escapement, the gilt dial with Roman hour numerals and pierced centre and inscribed 'J.W Benson 25 Old Bond Street French Make', the case formed as a fluted cylindrical column with octagonal base, surmounted with a portrait bust of Diane de Poitiers, after Jean Goujon, height 24.5cm.
