LOT 1239
An early 18th century and later oak hood clock with thirty hour movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the 8¾-inch brass dial with black Roman hour numerals and single hand and inscribed 'Tho Sayers Lindfield', the later oak hood case with moulded pediment above a glazed door and shaped apron, height 58cm, with weight (lacking pendulum). Note: Thomas Sayer(s) is a recorded Sussex clockmaker, born in 1679 and working in Lindfield in the early 18th century, brother of fellow clockmaker Ralph Sayers of Lindfield.
