LOT 1262
A George III oak longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 12-inch brass breakarch dial with silvered chime/silent indicator to arch above a silvered chapter ring framing a matt centre with silvered subsidiary seconds, date aperture and applied plaque, inscribed 'Jos Leyton Portsmouth', the hood with moulded pediment and glazed door, the trunk with arched door above a plain base and plinth, height 203.5cm, with pendulum (lacking weights). Note: Joseph Leyton is a recorded clockmaker working in Portsmouth circa 1760 to 1770.
