LOT 1269
An early 18th century walnut longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 10-inch square brass dial with foliate engraved centre, the chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'Richd Keyte Wittney', cornered with cast and pierced mask and scroll spandrels, the hood with moulded cornice above a glazed door flanked by barleytwist columns, the quarter veneered rectangular trunk door with herringbone banding, on a similarly decorated base and bracket feet, height 199.5cm, with pendulum and two weights (restoration). Note: Richard Keyte is a recorded clockmaker working in Witney, Oxon, circa 1702 to 1770.
