Follower of Sir Joshua Reynolds - 'Sketch for the portrait of the Montgomery sisters', 19th century oil on canvas, 59cm x 91cm, within a swept gilt composition frame. Note: this work was exhibited in the 1986 Joshua Reynolds exhibition at the Royal Academy as an autograph work. It is illustrated in Nicholas Penny and David Manning's 'Reynolds: Catalogue of a Royal Academy of Arts Exhibition' (Weidenfeld Nicolson Illustrated, 1986) as no. 154(b). Provenance: Mrs E Broughton-Adderley; Mrs Wardlaw Reid.
