A late 19th century French Aesthetic gilt brass mounted and inlaid walnut mantel clock with eight day movement striking on a gong, the backplate with stamped A.D. Mougin maker's mark, the circular cream chapter ring with black Arabic hour numerals, the case decorated in the Oriental taste with Buddhistic lion surmount above a dragon roof pediment, the front with cast and pierced panel of flowers, simulated clouds and brocade, the side panels with Shibayama inlaid scenes of butterfly amidst trailing flower vines and branches of blossoming prunus, height 46cm, with pendulum.
