O’BRIAN, Patrick. [A Complete set of the ‘Aubrey-Maturin’ novels.] London: Collins and HarperCollins, 1970-1999. 20 vols., mixed editions, 8vo (210 x 132mm.) (Toning, ex-library stamps to preliminaries of ‘The Surgeon’s Mate’.) Original cloth (slight spine lean to most volumes), dust-jackets (six volumes are price-clipped including ‘Master and Commander’, early volumes lightly bumped spine ends). Provenance: David Pearce (embossed stamp to front-free endpaper of ‘Desolation Island’). Note: they are all first editions but for ‘Post-Captain’, ‘H.M.S. Surprise’, ‘The Mauritius Command’ and ‘Fortune of War’. – And a further two volumes by Patrick O’Brian (‘The Golden Ocean’, 1996, 8vo, and ‘The Unknown Shore’, 1966, 8vo) (22).
