Two striking Bando de Portugal die proof specimen portrait vignettes of Dom Pedro V in military uniform, each in black on oversized paper/card, one numbered '463' with title and 'Bradbury Wilkinson & Co Ld, New Malden, Surrey, England' below image, both with full-plate margins (both extremely fine, minor handling marks). Note: this style of portrait was used on one thousand escudos notes issued circa 1968-82. Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
