                Two extremely rare Banque Centrale du Congo Belge et du Ruanda-Urundi partial banknote die proof engraver's test strikes of the obverse of a one thousand francs note, in blue with portrait vignette of King Baudouin to left side, values to upper corners, value to lower right corner erased, on oversized paper, together with a group of six die proof engraver's test strike portrait vignettes of King Baudouin in blue and black, and a photographic transparency of the same study (handling marks, creases, paper discolouration). Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
