Miss Lorisa Starr (British 1845-1909) - Half-length Portrait of Marquerite Roxby Beverley, seated, wearing a feathered straw hat, white dress and fur-edged jacket, holding an open book, a silver cruciform medallion suspended from a chain around her neck, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1879 lower left, 75cm x 60cm, within a gilt composition frame with pierced corner and centre crestings. Exhibited: the Royal Academy 1879, no. 522. Note: Lorisa Starr exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Society of Lady Artists, sometimes exhibiting under her married name, Mme Canziani.
