A group of First World War medals relating to John Hamshere, comprising Distinguished Conduct Medal, George V issue, to ‘42040 B.S.Mjr:J.Hamshere. 10/Bty:Can:Art:’, 1914-15 Star to ‘42040 B.S.Mjr J.Hamshere. Can:Fd:Art:’ and 1914-18 British War Medal and 1914-19 Victory Medal to ‘Lieut.J.Hamshere’, a First World War period bronze memorial plaque, detailed ‘John Hamshere’, with forwarding slip, envelope and folding card cover, a Canadian Memorial Cross, George V issue, detailed ‘Lieut.J.Hamshere D.C.M.’, with case of issue, five brooches and badges, a postal envelope and three forwarding slips to accompany the medals, and a copy of two photographs. Note: John Hamshere died of wounds 12th July 1917 and is buried in the Ecoivres Military Cemetery, France.
