A scarce Edo period Japanese samurai kabuto with eight-section black lacquered hachi and five-section fabric joined shikoro or neck protection, with applied crescent form metal datemono and fukigaeshi with painted decoration and applied button mounts, together with an associated Edo period iron me-no-shita-men or face guard with stylized features and fabric lined and chainmail covered throat guard.
