[MARVELL, Andrew et al.] A New Collection of Poems Relating to State Affairs, from Oliver Cromwell to this Present Time: By the Greatest Wits of the Age. London: [1705]. 8vo (193 x 113mm.) Title. (Heavy spotting from title-B1, browning.) Contemporary calf, later red morocco lettering piece to spine, spine gilt (rebacked, tips renewed). Note: contains poems by Marvell, E. Waller, Lord Rochester and even a poem by John Locke. Provenance: William Cowper, Clerk of the Parliaments (armorial bookplate to front pastedown) [Case 237]. – And a further two literary volumes (Robert Bloomfield’s ‘The Farmer’s Boy; A Rural Poem’, third edition, 1800, 8vo, and Colley Cibber’s ‘An Apology for the Life… with an Historical View of the Stage During His Own Time’, second edition, 1740, 8vo) (3).
