HAYLEY, William. The Life of George Romney Esq. Chichester: by W. Mason for T. Payne, 1809. First edition, large paper edition, 4to (270 x 203mm.) Engraved frontispiece, 11 engraved plates including the William Blake engraved ‘Sketch of a Shipwreck after Romney’, and the ‘Epistles to Romney’ leaf to rear. (Lacking blanks, marginal spotting to plates, toning, some offsetting.) Later maroon calf-backed cloth, gilt lettering to spine (endpapers replaced, stamps verso title). Provenance: West Sussex County Libraries (labels to pastedowns).
