An Edward Bingham for Castle Hedingham historicist art pottery charger, dated 1891, the brown glazed ground with central blue glazed rampant lion above a ribbon motto 'CREDE', surrounded by high relief applied blue glazed flowers and foliage beneath an applied relief blue glazed patterned rim border, the base underside inscribed in blue 'John Lart died at Hastings January 13th 1862, buried at Highgate January 20th', with further inscription in blue to the rim underside 'J Lart married Charlotte Hopkins Stanton at St John's Church, Stratford, Essex, September 12th 1854, John Lart born August 28th 1855, William Stanton Lart born July 23rd 1857, Florence Maud Lart born March 16th 1859, Charlee Stanton Lart born July 5th 1862', incised potter's mark and date to underside with applied castle pad mark, diameter 41cm (minor faults).
