A 19th century oxidized brass octant, the arc with silvered scale and signed 'Bainbridge... Sunderland', fitted with magnifier, coloured filters, mirror and wood handle, within a fitted mahogany case, length 28cm, accompanied by a Board of Trade Certificate of Competency as Master in the Merchant Service, dated 1873.
