LOT 3644
A poignant Second World War period propeller section, length 175cm, from aircraft Junkers Ju 88 A-5 Wnr 5151 F2+GH, which crashed on the night of 19th April 1941 at Slaughter Bridge, Slinfold, West Sussex. Note: the crash killed all those on board: pilot Heinz Burkart, observer Rudolf Scheithauer, radio operator Bruno Kalmus and gunner Wolfgang Haselsteiner. The aircraft was purportedly shot down by Brooklands anti-aircraft guns after a raid on London. This propeller section was found much later, after the wreckage had been removed and passed to the current vendor's father, as of aviation interest.
Estimate: £200 – £300
