Two early 20th century firefighter officers' axes, one by Shand Mason & Co, length 38cm, with black leather holster/frog, the other by Merryweather & Sons Ltd, length 39.5cm, both with finely chequered grips and steel butt plates. Note: the finely finished grips on these examples suggest they belonged to higher ranking officers.
