LOT 3200
VAUGHAN, W.E. Autobiographica, With a Gossip on the Art of Printing in Colours. [Brighton: Privately Printed, 1900.] Inscribed by Arthur Vaughan, folio (383 x 275mm.) (Scattered spotting, occasional crease, lacking all 5 plates.) Original brown half morocco (rubbed, stained, discoloured). Note: the work was published privately after William Vaughan’s death by his son, Arthur. W.E. Vaughan was a Brighton print dealer, reputedly the largest in the south of England in the last half of the nineteenth century. Provenance: ‘Miss Hawgood’ (inscribed to in ink by Arthur Vaughan on the initial blank). – And a further seven volumes relating to art and illustration (including Birket Foster’s ‘Pictures of English Landscape’, limited edition, number 741 of 1000 copies, [1881], 4to, and Alexander Ver Huell’s ‘De Visch en de Mensch’, [1849], oblong 4to) (8).
