Mary Ireland (1891-1980) - 'Holy Family With Angels', fabric mosaic triptych, typically worked with textile fragments with the Madonna and Jesus Christ flanked by Joseph and Anne, each hinged side panel with a kneeling angel in profile, all with hand-painted facial features and hands, set within a glazed wooden frame, bearing exhibition label to reverse, detailed with title, artist and studio address, height 44cm, width 128cm. Note: Mary Ireland was most noted for her 'fabric mosaics' made throughout the 1930s-1950s, influenced by the Birmingham School and in particular the work of Joseph Southall.
