Delmar Harmood Banner (German 1896-1983) - 'Buttermere from Melbreak', watercolour, signed and inscribed lower right, 37.5cm x 53.5cm, within a limed wood frame. Provenance: the grandparents of the vendor were lifelong friends of Banner and his artist wife, Josefina de Vasconcellos, and had a holiday home next door to the Banners in Little Langdale, Ambleside. The vendor’s cousin was evacuated from London to stay with the Banners for part of the war. These pictures were gifts from the artist to the vendor’s family.
