Great Britain 1d Mulready envelope used 6th May 1840 (first day), fine red Maltese Cross and straight line 'T.P. Twickenham' (two penny post) with one penny crossed out with blue crayon, includes letter which starts 'I have no other purpose in troubling you dear Diane than the hope of being the first to astonish you with the new cover' (small tear at top of cover mentioned for accuracy).
