A Chinese Canton export lacquer folding fan, mid to late 19th century, the black lacquered guards and fourteen sticks decorated with gilt figures, pavilions, trees, insects and birds, supporting a paper panel painted in gouache with continuous figural scenes to each side, length 28cm, within a lacquer rectangular case with hinged lid (some faults). Provenance: the property of a West Sussex lady collector.
