A Spanish faience monastic albarello, Talavera, late 17th/18th century, of waisted form, painted in blue with a Catholic armorial surmounted by an abbot's hat, hung with six tassels to each side, above a label inscribed 'PVM.LOM', height 25.3cm (restored). Note: this armorial relates to the Order of Our Lady of Mercy. A similar example is illustrated by Rudolf E.A. Drey in 'Apothecary Jars', p. 145, pl. 74b. A tin-glazed earthenware albarello, probably Spanish (Seville), late 18th/19th century, the waisted body polychrome painted with a crowned rampant lion armorial above an 'SDA' monogram within a foliate garland, height 26cm (cracked). Three English Delft plates, mid-18th century, each painted in blue with a chinoiserie landscape depicting islands and a fisherman in a boat, the rims with a wide geometric band, diameters 23.4cm, 23.5cm and 23.7cm (some fritted chips). An Italian Sicilian maiolica oviform jar, probably Palermo, 17th century, polychrome painted with a panel depicting the Greek goddess Daphne within a gadrooned cartouche against a patterned ground of masks, floral medallions and foliate scrolls, between bands of scrolling leaves, height 32cm (neck restored). An Italian maiolica cylindrical storage or drug jar, Calabrian, 17th century, painted in the Venetian manner with opposing portrait busts within oval ochre ground frames flanked by flowers and foliage, height 30.5cm (restored). Note: a similar example sold at Christie's 'Italian Ceramic Art 1400-1900', 22nd April 2008, Lot 53. Provenance: from the collection of the late Professor Maurice Stacey.

An Italian maiolica wet drug jar, probably Deruta, 17th century, the ovoid body painted to the front in blue and yellow with grotesques, winged beasts and fauns surrounding a label inscribed 'S.D.ASSENZO', the back painted in blue with leaves surrounding a label inscribed 'S.D.ASSEZO', with bifurcated handle and short spout, height 24.5cm (handle restored). Note: an albarello with similar decoration to this wet drug jar was sold at Sotheby's, 14th December 2004, Lot 2. Provenance: from the collection of the late Professor Maurice Stacey.

An Italian maiolica albarello, Sicily, early 18th century, of waisted form, painted in blue with a floral pattern reserved with panels of sponged or mottled decoration, height 24.3cm (cracked), together with a tin-glazed earthenware jar painted in blue with four simple horizontal bands, one with pendant stylized flowerheads, height 17.5cm (chips).
