LOT 3175
MOTORCYCLING. A collection of approximately 66 glass slides of Theresa Wallach and Florence Blenkiron and their pioneering first crossing of Africa on motorcycle in 1934-35, each slide 8.3cm x 8.3cm, and depicting the 'Venture' Panther motorcycle and sidecar, as well as scenes and countryside along the route. Note: in 2001 Barry M. Jones edited 'The Rugged Road' recording the journey based on the notebooks of Theresa Wallach. This book is only scantily illustrated by stills from a ciné film made by Wallach, and in his preface Jones appeals for photographs that this recently discovered archive provides.
