LOT 1215
A George III figured mahogany longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 14-inch painted breakarch dial with rolling moon to the arch above Arabic hour numerals, inner date ring and subsidiary seconds, inscribed 'W. Holland Chester', cornered by four allegorical figures representing the four seasons, the hood with swan neck pediment above a glazed door and cluster columns, the triple arched trunk door flanked by corner cluster columns, on a cut cornered base and ogee bracket feet, height 240cm, with pendulum, two weights and winder. Note: William Holland is a recorded clockmaker working from his King Street premises in Chester from 1795 until his death in 1829.
