A fine and unusual George III cavalry officer's sabre by Prosser, London, with curved single-edged blade with ground false-edge point and one wide and one narrow spine fuller, blade length 74cm, with lightly etched foliate decoration, trophies of arms and 'GR' cypher, gilt cast brass cage-form guard, square-form chequered ivory grip and shaped cushion-form pommel, with gilt brass mounted stitched leather scabbard with twin ring suspension, the upper mounted engraved 'Prosser late Cullum, Sword Cutler & Belt Maker to the King, Charing Cross, London' (some old stable environmental damage throughout). Note: a non-transferrable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item.
