LOT 3746
A Victorian gilt metal, white metal and blue enamelled officer's shoulder belt plate and two belt fittings of the 25th Native Infantry, of shaped rectangular form, the centre with two oval panels with crown above and ‘XXV’ in a shield form surround below, with blue enamelled battle honour scroll, detailed ‘Meeanee’ and ‘Hyderabad’, the central belt fitting further detailing these two battle honours, together with two portrait miniatures, comprising one on paper of 'George Henry Robertson, B.1813, D.1862', depicted wearing his shoulder belt plate and Scinde campaign medal, and one on ivory of his wife 'Jane Newcomen, B.1825, D.1900', bearing artist's initials ‘CSH’, both cased, applied labels to cases with sitter details. Note: a non-transferable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item.
