LOT 1203
An 18th century mahogany longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the 12-inch brass breakarch dial with rolling moon to arch above a silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes and inscribed 'WM. Brock Axbridge', all cornered with cast and pierced gilt spandrels, the hood with swan neck pediment, glazed door and Corinthian columns, the cut cornered trunk with rectangular hinged door, plain base and bracket feet, height 223cm, with pendulum and two weights (alterations and restoration). Note: William Brock is a recorded Somerset clockmaker working in Axbridge circa 1720.
