LOT 1168
A George III oak and mahogany crossbanded longcase clock, the eight day movement striking on a bell, the 12-inch brass breakarch dial with rolling moon to arch above a chapter ring, inscribed 'France Warrington', framing a matt centre with subsidiary seconds and date aperture, the hood with brass finials and swan neck pediment above glazed door and fluted columns, the trunk door with inlaid shell, on a plinth base, height 222cm (alterations and restoration), with pendulum, two brass cased weights and winder. Note: Richard France is a recorded clockmaker working in Warrington circa 1720 until his death in 1740.
