LOT 1169
A Victorian oak and mahogany crossbanded longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 13-inch painted breakarch dial decorated with a scene of a Grand Junction Railway (GJR) locomotive and carriages approaching a bridge, above black Roman hour numerals, and inscribed 'Jno Kippax Retford', the hood with swan neck pediment, glazed door and turned columns, the trunk with rectangular door, on bracket feet, height 229cm, with pendulum and two weights. Note: John Kippax is a recorded Nottinghamshire clockmaker working in East Retford between 1849 and 1876.
