An early 20th century black lacquered and brass laboratory stick barometer, signed 'J.H. Steward London No. 1429', of cylindrical form, the glazed upper section with silvered vernier scale, enclosing a concealed mercury tube, the trunk with mercury thermometer, height 114cm, together with a walnut wall backplate, applied with a presentation plaque inscribed 'Telford Premium awarded to George Neill Abernethy, The Institute of Civil Engineers Session 1905-1906'.
