LOT 57
Anthony Devas (British 1911-1958) - 'Aero Girl', oil on canvas, 35cm x 25cm, within a plain gilt frame. Note: this is one of a number commissioned by Rowntree's for use in Aero chocolate advertising from 1950 to 1957. The story of these portraits' discovery was reported on Channel 4 news. Aero Girls - Borthwick Institute for Archives, University of York Devas' work is represented in major collections including the National Portrait Gallery, the Tate and the National Maritime Museum, among others. Provenance: Prosper Devas, the artist's son, purchased by the vendor from his daughter, Molly. Anthony Devas was a friend of the vendor's mother and father and his oldest friend is Anthony's grand-child.
