A group of 30 letters to or from Alfred de Rothschild (1842-1918), including an unsigned letter in the hand of Winston Churchill on Admiralty Whitehall headed paper, thanking Alfred for a letter; an autograph letter signed by Lady Randolph Churchill thanking the recipient for his kind donation of £10 to the European War Fund Formed by the Ambulance Department; an a.l.s. from Lord Kitchener concerning meeting with Lady Desborough; an a.l.s. by Manuel, King of Portugal asking for a donation for wounded soldiers; an a.l.s. from Nellie Melba; and an a.l.s. from the Duc d’Orleans.
