A Red Ashay satin glass car mascot, moulded in the form of a head and shoulders bust, possibly depicting Mephistopheles, height 13.5cm. Provenance: Christies 23 May 1991, Lot 283. Note: Red Ashay mascots were made for H.G. Ascher Ltd of Manchester and London, by the Reidel Glass Works in Czechoslovakia. H.G. Ascher first marketed these mascots as ‘Red Ashay’ in 1930 and they were finally taken off the market in 1952, when H.G. Ascher closed.
