An Omega Speedmaster Pre-Moon stainless steel cased gentleman's chronograph wristwatch, Ref. 105.003-65, circa 1965, the signed and jewelled 321 caliber manual wind movement numbered '22825889', with dust cover, the signed black dial with luminous hour markers, three subsidiary dials and centre stop seconds, the bezel with black tachymeter scale, the signed case back interior detailed 'ST 105 003-65', the case back with Speedmaster emblem, case diameter 3.9cm, on an associated bracelet. Note: this Omega 105.003 reference is often referred to as the 'Ed White', named after the NASA astronaut Edward White II, who wore a 105.003 during the Gemini 4 mission on June 3, 1965, for America's first spacewalk. Provenance: this watch belonged to Derek Barrington Gore, M.B.E., British Consul, Acapulco and was purportedly gifted to him by the Apollo 11 astronauts during their Goodwill Tour of 1969. The lot is accompanied by personal photographs including a colour shot of Derek Gore wearing the watch whilst accompanied by Miss Universe 1977, a black and white photograph of Prince Charles, Derek Gore and other diplomats, official portrait photographs of Ronald and Nancy Reagan, signed photographs of astronaut Jack R. Lousma and Walter Cunningham and a NASA Apollo 4 The first colour photograph of the whole planet earth, circa 1967, printed on Kodak paper (NASA image MSC AS4-1-510), numbered in red to top margin, 20.3cm x 25.4cm.
