A Greek Gnathia ware black glazed prochous, 4th-3rd century BC, the highly arched handle and channel spout above an ovoid body decorated with bands of ovolo, running scrolls and foliate, height 20cm. Provenance: Sotheby's Antiquities, Islamic, Indian and South-east Asian Art Sale, New Bond Street, London, 28 Oct 1993, part of Lot 101. Later purchased from Ancient Relics (see certificate). Note: from the estate of a West Sussex collector.
