A 17th Century North Italian cedar penwork and pokerwork chest, profusely decorated with foliate scrolls, animals and leaves, bordering fretwork panels depicting various scenes of military figures, tents, battle scenes and other figures, the sides similarly decorated and with applied handles, the lid interior with similar decoration and fitted with strap hinges, raised on bracket feet, length approx 153cm, height approx 64cm, depth approx 59cm.
