A Second World War period Japanese katana with curved single-edged blade, blade length 68cm, the tang signed, cast bronze tsuba, tape bound fishskin grip with hidden flowerhead menuki fitting, fuchi and kabuto-gane pommel, the fuchi with spring loaded scabbard release, with stitched leather covered painted metal scabbard (blade later inscribed with presentation 'David - Maureen 1945'.
