A fine Second World War period Japanese officer's katana with curved single-edged fullered blade, blade length 70cm, the unsigned tang with double peg hole piercings, cast bronze openwork tsuba, decorated with flowerheads, leather tape bound fishskin grip with hidden cast bronze flowerhead menuki fitting, fuchi and kabuto-gane pommel with associated leather knot, the fuchi with applied silver mon/family crest symbol and spring loaded scabbard release, with stitched leather covered painted metal scabbard with single ring suspension.
