A fine and rare Second World War period Japanese naval kyu-gunto sword with curved single-edged fullered blade, blade length 62cm, the tang signed finely in gilt metal inlay, gilt cast brass part-folding elongated hilt with wire bound fishskin grip, the spine of the grip with mon/family crest insignia, and bullion braided knot, with stained fishskin covered scabbard with fine foliate decorated gilt metal mounts and twin ring suspension, and embroidered red silk slip case bag (some shrinkage and damage to scabbard).
